Forebears Change Log

Two very significant enhancements:

• Classic Tree diagrams are now available, optimised for small-format mobile device screens, with live-links to move focus up and down through the generations.
• Person Index may now be published to PDF and printed. Organised alphabetically with the critical life events and relationships, users now have an offline record of their family group.

All screens now display international character sets correctly. Enhanced error handling and better user information for GEDCOM import function. Critical bug fixes to Wonder Wheel operation and cosmetic improvements to light/dark mode themes.

Significant enhancements to image capture and display. Extended the operation of the Wonder Wheel to support same-sex relationships and unknown sex on import with new diamond icon. Added missing event types of divorce and adoption.

Launching the MacCatalyst version of Forebears, making the App available on all iOS and MacOS platforms. A fully integrated Help System is deployed to support a Mac-centric user experience.

Group Information screen now separate from Group Editing screen, each displayed by tapping the top navigation bar on either View or Edit mode (lock or unlock button). The Group Editing screen now offers a number of ways to add missing information in bulk.

A new screen displays step-by-step progress of a GEDCOM Import. The geo-coding of textual addresses in imported GEDCOM files greatly enhanced and integrated with the Import process.

A further radical redesign of the iPad screens to allow the app to be used entirely in landscape orientation with an attached keyboard and mouse.

New Anniversaries screens created to display the set of Group Members whose births, marriages and deaths occur in each calendar month. Also including an analysis of event timings across the entire Group

A radical redesign of many of the screens to create a consistent user experience on both iPhone and iPad devices. New Home Screen takes users straight into their family group. New ‘Lock/Unlock’ button to enter edit-mode with the Wonder Wheel functionality greatly enhanced to enable many edit actions to be completed by simple tap-gestures.

New Life Story view to show the key events in a person’s life; A package of enhanced user support features, including onboarding screens, links to User Guides, email support contact features. New colour-coordinated background themes.

Forebears launched on iPhone. Including the key elements: Wonder Wheel (our unique interactive graphic device to navigate family relationships), Ancestral Circle (showing a person’s forebears back through history), GEDCOM Import/Export, a variety of mobile-friendly data entry screens, ‘helicopter views’ to look down and across large families, and many other powerful features.
