Happy new year, memory masters! We’ve been listening to your feedback about Duo play, Game Center hiccups, and that pesky tab bar. Version 3.3 rolls out today with a handful of updates designed to keep you playing (and winning) with fewer bumps along the way.
Games Room: Always Open, Prime Time Every Hour
The Games Room is now live 24/7. Drop in whenever you like and you’ll see a new Prime Time countdown: the first ten minutes of every hour are the best moment to find an opponent. When the window opens, the sheet flips to “You’re in Prime Time!” with a reminder to leave matchmaking open so other players can jump in.
Duo Play Gets a Fresh Coat of Paint
- The Invite and Games Room buttons now stay the same size—even on smaller iPhones—so the layout looks polished everywhere.
- We reinstated the help text on an empty Duo leaderboard (“Play your first Duo game…”) so you know exactly what to do after dismissing the onboarding alert.
- In Progress, the multiplayer list is now labeled “Duo Plus,” and behind the scenes every leaderboard call uses the new duoPlusLeaderboard identifier. No more mismatches.
Game Center Sign-In Made Clearer
If you’ve ever watched a spinner run forever because the device wasn’t signed in, this one’s for you:
- The Welcome screen now presents two distinct buttons: “Sign in with Game Center” and “Open Game Center Settings.”
- We added explicit guidance for cases where the device isn’t logged into an Apple ID or Game Center is restricted by Screen Time.
- A 10-second watchdog jumps in with a “Try Again” or “Settings” prompt if Game Center doesn’t respond.
Solo Play: Tab Bar Glue
Closing or abandoning a Solo game now clears the grid and unhides the tab bar immediately. We’re firing a new SoloGameAbandoned notification so ContentView refreshes right away—no more tapping around in the dark.
