The Solo Weekly Challenge has been running now for three weeks and you might have noticed, there’s a wide spread in people’s performance. New joiners to the Leaderboard typically have scores of 40 or maybe 60. If you’re a new player challenging Bamboozle’s AI in ‘Easy’ mode playing a Small game then you’ve done well, because 60 points is a Perfect score at that level. Do that just ten times and you’ll have over 500-points and right now that’ll push you into the top-ten!
So how do we think last week’s podium winners achieved their scores of more than 3,000 points? I’ll bet they didn’t do it playing Small, Easy games! No, the trick to piling on the points is to raise your game. First by moving up to Medium and Large games with four and five rows of cards. But the big change happens when you compete against Bamboozle’s Hard and Wicked levels.
Moving on up…
Easy games are… well, easy: Bamboozle is playing blind, just randomly flipping cards without remembering what it’s seen. Because that’s not a huge challenge you earn 10 points for each pair matched. Five pairs matched earns you 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 +10 = 50.
So now, before tapping your first card, swipe the card-grid to the left and notice that the back of each card now says “Hard”. (You can go back to Easy by swiping to the right). Hard games are far more fun! Bamboozle’s AI is now playing with ‘one eye open’, so it sees its own cards and it doesn’t forget what it’s seen. But the cards that you flip are still invisible to the AI. If you keep forgetting your own cards in a Hard game, and missing chances to pair them, then I’m afraid Bamboozle’s certainly going to beat you by working its way around the grid. Your skill in beating Bamboozle in a Hard game is rewarded so the same five pairs now earns you 10 + 20 + 30 + 40 + 50 =150.
Do you think last week’s winner with over 4,000 points did this by playing 40 Easy games or 25 Hard games? Well they probably played a few at that level but No, what took them into the lead was by playing – and winning – a Wicked Game.
The Wicked Game
From Hard, swipe the card-grid one more time to the left. You’re now in a Wicked game.
Bamboozle sees and remembers every card that’s been flipped in a Wicked game. That includes your cards as well as its own! I very much doubt that any player could achieve a perfect 10-pair result against Bamboozle playing a large Wicked game. You’d need a photographic memory and a great deal of luck!
But here’s the thing: You don’t need a perfect score to win big! Five pairs matched in a Wicked game earns you 10 + 20 + 40 + 80 + 160 = 310. Keep going—maybe you grab eight pairs before Bamboozle—and suddenly you’re at 310 + 620 + 1,240 = 2,170 points.

So what’s the smartest way to tackle a Wicked game? When you’ve figured out your approach, drop it in the comments—I’d love to feature the best tips in next week’s roundup.
