We’d forgotten to buy sweets for trick-or-treaters this year so my pumpkin had to stay undercover. Which was a shame because I thought the kids might’ve loved it!
Pumpkin-carving has not been my only creative outlet these past few months. With Christmas approaching I thought it might be fun to write a Game for the festive period.
Launched this week, Bamboozle, was a fun challenge to write. For the technically-minded, it’s written in SwiftUI which is Apple’s newest programming language. This was a first for me so I partnered with my new friend ChatGPT. I call him “Chatty” because after many long conversations, we’re now on first name terms. You may know his equally clever twin sister “Chattie”?
So I asked Chatty if he understands SwiftUI and he said “Certainly, how can I help?” I outlined the basics of the game and quick-as-a-flash (maybe half a second) back came a few hundred lines of SwiftUI code with a convenient “copy” button. And it worked! Well sort of…
Partnering with ChatGPT on an app-development project is like working with a teenage prodigy with a very short attention span but beautiful manners. Lots of “oops, sorry, try this” and another quick-as-a-flash 200 lines of code to replace the last quick-as-a-flash 200 lines of code. After a few iterations you notice the new code is exactly the same as the first code with all its problems. Instead of arguing you decide to go it alone.
Anyway, Chatty got me started and I can honestly say that without him my new app Bamboozle would never have reached the AppStore. When he and his sister reach maturity they’re going to be wonderful. I just hope they’ll still want to know me!

So I invite you to download Bamboozle and have a play. Please let me know how you get on. I’ll discuss your feedback with Chatty!
Bamboozle is a free download. You can start playing immediately at no charge.
There are a couple of premium features that cost far less than the price of a cup of coffee:
- You can buy ‘Creator’ to build your own games from your Photo Library.
- You can buy access to the Hard and Wicked playing levels without waiting to build up the points.
Well that’s my latest news. I also owe you all an update on Forebears and will do that in the next post. Bye for now!
